Other Elections

Attention is often focused on the Presidential primaries and elections. But there are also municipal primaries and elections, in which your vote is just as important. In municipal elections, registered voters elect members of their local government, such as mayors, council people, township supervisors and district judges.

There are different kinds of local government. For example, you might live in a city, borough or township. Each type of local government is governed by a council or board that is elected by local citizens.

Municipal elections are held in all odd numbered years on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November.

Special Elections

A special election is held when someone who is already in office can no longer serve and must be replaced. All registered voters in the district can vote in a special election.
